Your Guide to Unique Non-Chocolate Easter Gifts in NZ
We all know someone who just can’t deal with the taste of chocolate. It sounds almost foreign to our ears too, but just because they don’t like the sweet taste of an Easter treat, doesn’t mean they don’t deserve anything this holiday.
But what do you get someone on a holiday traditionally dedicated to spreading cheer through chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs? We have collected a list of Easter gift ideas suited for that special someone in your life who is a bit pickier in taste than others. Add a little hop into their step with these gifts.
12 Non-Chocolate Easter Gift Ideas
Painting Class
A painting class may not seem to suit the Easter occasion, but Pinot & Picasso’s sip and paint classes can always bring a festive spirit to budding artists of all ages, even the kids! Gift your loved one a session in one of our painting classes, or tag along and enjoy the experience together.
Our painting classes have a BYO policy; bring your own booze (or non-alcoholic drinks), food and enthusiasm. If that hasn’t sold you on a painting class being the perfect Easter gift, then know that our classes are overseen by trained artists. They’ll walk you through every step of that class’ painting, making it easy for someone who hasn’t ever touched a paintbrush to create a masterpiece.
Flowers
Keep it simple yet sweet with a gift of flowers. Choose from a big glamorous bouquet full of hidden meanings, or make it classy with native flora to NZ. People may try to tell you a bouquet is only to be given between romantic partners (and just from the guy, really?), but we believe floral arrangements are a lovely gift from anyone, to anyone.
Gift Box
Not sure what one thing to get your loved one this Easter? Why not give them a whole bunch of things? Hampers or gift boxes are perfect for a variety of goods, including: non-chocolate food, alcohol, accessories, and even homewares. You are to find plenty of Easter gift baskets without chocolate cramping your style, or make your own with things you know they will love.
Candy/Sweets (Non-Chocolate)
Shopping for sweets is a perfect match of the Easter spirit, even without any chocolate. Go crazy with a shopping cart of various candy brands, or keep it simple with a box of their favourites. It’s not the quantity that matters, but how well you know your loved one.
Stuffed Animal
A soft, cuddly stuffed animal is not childish! We won’t hear it! Nothing says sweet more than a plush toy of someone’s favourite animal, or one that’s in-line with the Easter holidays. A stuffed rabbit should do the trick of reminding them of the holiday – and reminding them you didn’t forget about how they didn’t want any chocolate.
Clothing
Make sure they’re covered up this year in your love by giving them an article of clothing. Easter treats rarely last the weekend, but a thoughtfully made scarf will last a lifetime. If they’re the jokester type, however, you can try getting them a punny shirt that can really touch on the Easter spirit; it sounds like an egg-cellent idea!
Scented Candle
For those more delighted by smells than the taste of chocolate, a scented candle might be the choice for this Easter. You can even keep with the holiday theme with sugary scents; maybe even chocolate, for a little tongue-in cheek joke. However, you can never go wrong with a scent that is sure to liven up their living space; floral, coastal, or otherwise.
Jewellery
If your loved one can never have too many accessories, this year’s Easter gifts could be jewellery. Finding the right piece that suits them may take some time, but once you find one you’re sold on, don’t hesitate to wrap it up in a bow. Nothing shows love quite like a little sparkle and shine.
Bottle of Wine
For those looking for non-chocolate Easter gift ideas for the adults in your life, you can never go wrong with a nice bottle of wine. It says classy, it says thoughtful, it says this is something you can enjoy even when the younger ones are hitting their sugar high. It’s got it all!
Home Decor Items
Looking for something that is going to last longer than a sugar-fuelled weekend? A new piece of home decor is sure to be well received this Easter. Order online or go hunting at your local markets for the perfect gift that is sure to tie their house together. It always helps to know what kind of interior design they enjoy, but sometimes a quirky or international piece of decor can be the perfect gift.
Puzzles
We love a good puzzle, and we’re sure your loved one will also when you give them their present this Easter. Let them off easy with a 100 piece, or give them a real challenge with over 1000. Either way, this gift is sure to have their brain ticking these holidays.
Book/Journal
There’s plenty of free time to be had over the Easter break, so give them something to pass the time. A good book will make time fly, especially if it’s something they’ve been looking forward to, or comes highly at your own recommendation. Sharing literature is just as good as sharing chocolate.
You can also present them with a nice journal for them to write down all their thoughts and ideas. Who knows, they might use it to come up with their very own list of Easter gift ideas.
